KSFO's "Everything On Computers" review of CleanUp! 1.1

The radio station KSFO (Hot Talk AM 560) in San Francisco used to have a show called, "Everything On Computers". On January 23, 1999, CleanUp! was featured on their radio program. Additionally, their "Web Wanderer" wrote the following review which was featured on their web site:

Freeware - CleanUp

Nerdly Nullman is the premier finder of freeware, and he found this useful freeware utility.

CleanUp! is for Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 (workstation or server) or Windows 98 (or Windows NT5 - untested). It is a useful little utility for those people who like the freedom of information on the web but also like a little privacy and don't want anyone to know where they've been surfing. It has been written to clean up any evidence - in particular, the cache, history and any cookies - that Internet Explorer (versions 1.x-4.x) and Netscape Navigator (3.x-4.x) leave behind.

CleanUp will clean up of your system by doing the following:

  • Empties the Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator caches.
  • Empties the Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator History files.
  • Empties the Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator newsgroup caches.
  • Empties the Recent Documents folder.
  • Removes temporary files from the temporary directories. These are often left behind by programs that don't properly clean up after themselves, or sometimes when a program or Windows crashes.
  • Removes temporary files sometimes created when running SCANDISK.
  • Cleans up various registry settings storing some of the above information.

In addition, CleanUp! can also optionally perform the following clean up:

  • Deletes all Cookies from your hard disk.
  • Empties the Internet Explorer Favorites folder.
  • Empties the Netscape Navigator Bookmarks file.
  • Removes all newsgroup subscriptions.
  • Resets the high scores and current scores for the standard Windows games (to make it look like you've never even bothered playing them!) These games include Solitaire, Minesweeper, Hearts (Windows 95), FreeCell and PinBall (Windows NT).

Pretty slick stuff. Thanks, Nerdly!!
